Waking to Sunshine

This room just makes me smile.  I can't decide what I like best; the preppy frock hanging on the wall, the custom headboard or just the all around pops of yellow.  I likey.

Here are few inexpensive fabrics to emulate the same look.  All fabrics via

Gender Nuetral Brown & White Nursery Bedding

Another one bites the dust folks.  Here is the second of 4 crib sets I am deliverying this week.  As promised I have photographed it for your viewing pleassure.  The mother knows she is having a girl, but she wanted the bedding to be made of linen and elegantly understated.

Her primary fabric was this gorgeous chocolate brown and white damask print and everything else was done in solid brown and white linen.

Here is everything she ordered for the nursery, crib bedding, pillow for the glider and a quilt.

Here's just the crib set.

And here's the bedding when she converts the crib to a toddler bed.

I have more toddler bedding photos to share later this week.  By the way, I feel the need to clarify, that Jacquelyn Reese Baby, LLC does not recommend placing, bumpers, pillows or blankets of any kind in the crib when the child is in their infant stage.  These photos are strictly for photography purposes only and we recommend you discuss with your child's healthcare provider when it is a safe time add such items.  You can read more about our Child Sleep Safety recommendations here or visit SIDS.org.

Beautiful and Affordable Play Room

Do you love the way this gorgeously styled play room looks? Could you envision it in your own home and does it make you yearn for an interior designer?

Photo from Sloan Mauran ID

If you answered yes to any of the above, then you are not alone. I too stopped dead in my tracks and wished my upstairs rec room looked like this. Well my friends, good news! This gorgeous and yes totally affordable room is more achievable than it looks.

Okay so let's start with what you might not have in your kid space, beautiful hardwood floors, 8" baseboards, beautiful AND expensive wood double hung windows and of course that arched window seat. But aside from the architectural details, the styling of the room is perfection and yes achievable.

Would you believe the meat and potatoes of this room comes from Ikea and a few other chic and cheap retailers? Allow me to demonstrate....

First we'll start with Ikea, where you'll find about 80% of the items for this design.  This rug is not the exact same as the photo, but a very close second and you can't beat the price.
The ever so popular Ikea toddler table and chairs.

The bookcase...Ikea as well.

Or the Ikea Expedit turned on its side.

Some baskets to fill the shelves.

The comfy armchair in pink if you have girls or if you are striving for gender nuetral, the red.
The apple green pillows, also Ikea.com.
And the wall art.  Frames from Ikea and wall cards from LandofNod.com.

And finally the biggest splurges for this very affordable room, the beautiful gord lamp and custom roman shades.  The lamp is from LampsPlus.com and the fabric is an apple green cotton duck from fabrics.com.  The perfect fabric for a simple roman shade.

So there you have it, high style for a steal.  keep in mind this design works beautifully because the bold furniture and asseccories are accented with clean crips neutral walls.

Double Your Design Pleasure

Here’s a sneak peak at a nursery bedding set I am making for a client expecting twins. The mother-to-be is not even finding out what she’s having! I admire anyone who has that much self-control. There is no way I could NOT find out. I am the type of person who will ask to know what to expect, when to expect it and how.

Below are the inspiration photos she gathered to give me a feel of the overall room design. By the way, mommy has impeccable style and taste. This room is going to be GORGEOUS! I promise to post final room photos. We are having it professionally photographed.

Here are her cribs, Da Vinci Jenny Lind Crib in Ebony Black Finish (not her bedding). And the bold and beautiful rug from www.Horchow.com

Her window valence fabric, a black and flax linen.

And her bedding fabrics pulled from the luxurious Leontine Linens flax linen and red bedding.

Perfect for a Boy or Girl Update

As promised here is an update to the red and brown crib bedding. Remember this? It's the original rendering the client sent of how she wanted her bedding to look.

Here’s the finished product and I think it turned out beautiful! The red is a deep crimson accented with a soft ivory and chocolate brown. Please excuse my amateur photography; these pictures do not do these fabrics justice. The client requested red bow ties. Check. Soft cuddly minky for the bumper insides. Check. A tailored center kick pleat crib skirt. Check. Single monogram accent pillow. Check. And a reversible minky blanket. Check. Click on the photos to enlarge.
This bedding set is on its way to its new home and I hope it brings the family great joy as it was a pleasure to make. So tell us...what do you think?

Perfect for a Boy or a Girl

From time-to-time my blog will feature some of my clients and their custom orders. I am currently making a crib bedding set for a lady who is expecting a baby girl, but wants to use the set again for her second child. So gender neutral it had to be and she specifically requested the color scheme be red and brown. She also sent me a mockup of how she wanted the fabrics to coordinate-this is her rendering.

I love the fact that she is so detailed. It makes my job so much easier and the final product is going to be beautiful. Here’s a sneak peek.
