Man Flowers for The Big 4-0

My friend Mike turns 40 today and to help him celebrate I'm giving him man flowers.  I originally got this idea from Pinterest see it here, but I decide to take it to the next level.

I took a galavinized pail and filled it with Jack Daniels, Cohibas and Pop Rocks (think about it).  Obiviously this gift is not PG and intended for Adults only.  All it took was hot glue, popcicle sticks, sand to weight the pail down and crinkle stuffing.  You could modify this gift for any man, just add his favorites and maybe a gag item or too.

Hello Kitty Goes to College

Old Navy just released these precious too cute to pass up college tees featuring Hello Kitty.  They have just about every college team you can think of and of course I had to order two Longhorn tees for my girls.  I think daddy is just as excited as they are.

Stationary Envy

I swoon when I see this gorgeous pile of bold monogrammed notepads. I love them all and could easily use one in just about every room of my house; kitchen, study, sewing studio, nightstand, car, etc.

They make great practical gifts and I love a practical gift; especially when it’s packaged pretty.  Your, sister, mother, besties, teachers and bosses would love these I am sure of it.  You can find these pretty things over at WH Hostess.

The Nuddle Blanket-Isn't it just an overpriced SNUGGIE?

I stumble upon an ad for the Nuddle blanket (Nap+Cuddle=Nuddle; clever) and I was intrigued so I clicked on the link and found an overpriced Snuggie. Which by the way my friends, don't knock it till you try it. The Snuggie blankets are COMFORTABLE! I mean lay in a cocoon of comfort and warmth all day long on the couch comfortable. We got one from a white elephant gift exchange party and now my husband and I fight over it. I love my Snuggie, go by one for a family member or friend. They make great gifts and they are cheap!  $15 at Walgreens or CVS.

But anyway back to the real purpose of this post, so I found the Nuddle and I mean it's nice looking and all, but not for 4x the price of one Snuggie. I'm just sayin’...save your pennies.

Now I will give the Nuddle one advantage, they do have baby and kid sizes, which I have not found in the Snuggie. Okay, score one for the Nuddle. Do you Snuggie? Come on, you can tell, don’t be ashamed, be proud of your Snuggie.
See Look here. Doesn't this kid look Snuggie-I mean Nuddlie in this blanket?  This is kind of cool, I could use one of these for my car.  My daughter likes to snuggle.

Win a Set of Vintage Barbie Fashion Prints

Have you been a long time admirer of these vintage Barbie Fashion prints by Robert Best?  I have always loved these gorgeous prints for my daughter's room, but not the price tag.  These collectibles sell framed only for $80 and up a print until now.

I spied the Barbie Fashion Model Collection 2010 wall calendar at Sam's Club for $7.88.  Yes you read it right, 12 beautiful 12 x 12 prints for only .65 cents each!  I stopped dead in my tracks and almost passed out I was so excited!  These prints would look stunning as a collection framed and matted in a girl's room and that's just what I plan to do with mine.

You can buy these calendars at any Sam's Club and Amazon.com or this week only you can win yours right here!  For your chance to win 12 gorgeous vintage Barbie prints from One Haute Kid just leave a comment and good luck!  The winner will be announced Thursday, December 3.

Simple and Sophisticated

I happened upon these gorgeous necklaces a while back and fell in love. I have seen several of these delicate custom charm necklaces but none that are this reasonable AND stylish.

I think they make the perfect gift for any woman. They are made by Three Sisters Jewelery and I hope I get one some day. Are you reading honey? Perhaps I should wait until baby #2. I love the thought of have three charms; one with each kid's name and a horseshoe charm. Or maybe the little Budha, he's kind of fun. To see their full line of jewelery click here. Do you Bla Bla?

We do, A LOT. I’d like you to meet Blabla, a.k.a. my daughter’s best friend, partner in crime, cuddle buddy, the object of her affection. I bought Blabla (the correct name for the doll is April) about a year and a half ago and it was the best purchase I could have ever made.

She loves this doll like there is no tomorrow. If I didn’t know any better I could get jealous over all the lovin’ Blabla gets; she gets the best kisses, hugs and laughs. Of course she also takes a serious beating from time-to-time.

Here she is on the floor, where she spends about 90% of her time.

And here she is on a good day. As you can see she’s been washed about a dozen times and mended just as many.

I highly recommend the Bla Bla dolls. They are great for travel, easy to wash and the best tool for persuading your kid to do things. For example, on any given day in our house you will hear, “Blabla is going to take a bath; Blabla already brushed her teeth now it’s your turn; Blabla is tired and it’s time to take a nap.”, etc, etc.

My friend’s daughter is turning 1 on Saturday and we just bought her Violet. I hope they become fast friends. See the entire line of Bla Bla dolls here. By the way parents they aren't just for girls, Bla Bla kids has an entire line of dolls for boys and girls.

A Timeless Treasure

I love it when I accidentally find a beautiful idea for home décor. I stumble upon these silhouettes when I was doing a fabric search for a customer. Silhouettes are nothing new, but artists are coming up with more ways to modernize this timeless tradition. I think they are a stunning way to capture the angelic features of your little ones.

I had silhouettes made of my family a while back and am waiting to move into a house to display them in my studio. I think I’ll make a display like this one below. To customize your own visit www.SimplySilhouettes.com.

Designer Decoupage

I first happened upon these beautiful decoupage accessories at the annual Nutcracker Market in Houston and I was blown away. Don’t be mistaken, these aren’t your dollar store decoupage items. They are gorgeous pieces of art handmade by true artisans. When you look at them up close it’s hard to believe the main ingredients are paper, glue and water.

You are probably thinking you can make a visit to your local craft store and recreate these accessories, but I promise you it’s not worth your time, money, potential frustration and disappointment. Marye Kelley Decoupage has mastered this craft for your enjoyment. My favorites are the frames, catchall tins, glass coasters and waste baskets (yes sometimes even your trash deserves a pretty place).

Below are just a few of their dozens of designs. Pick one up for your office, home, kid’s room, nursery or for a gift. Pair it with a special photograph and parents, teachers, baby shower hostess gifts, mothers-to-be and friends will all enjoy your thoughtfulness and great taste!
